Emeralds – The May Jewelry Birthstone – Make Others Envious

May 2nd, 2013 Emma Duch No comments

May is so exciting as it is the month of rebirth! For those living in similar places to us in New York, flowers are blooming with color and greening is everywhere. We come to life leaving our cocoons of winter behind as we turn into butterflies enjoying the spring sunlight.  However, there is something else really exciting about May this year -  Emeralds – the birthstone of May and the official color of 2013.  We have been waiting in anticipation for May to come around to celebrate this color.  Emerald and Diamond Earrings

emerald and diamond ringSo what can you wear to make your friends green with envy about your birthstone?  We have a couple of great ideas that we want to share with you, which can be worn separately or would look INCREDIBLE together:

Firstly, a stunning diamond and emerald band set in 18kt white gold and featuring fifty diamonds and thirteen emeralds.  You can match this  ring with a pair of platinum peacock earrings by Gumuchian with diamonds and Colombian emeralds to complete the look.
To find out more about your birthstone, we love an image that Christie’s published and just had to show you.  This gives you a great history of the birthstone as well as evoking a feeling of emerald envy (as we have) over the emerald Fab Four!
Even better stop into our beautiful Downtown Manhattan showroom and have fun selecting the fashion jewelry piece that is right for you.  Would you even consider wearing an engagement ring with an emerald center or accent stones?
Enjoy reading and as Elizabeth Taylor said, “Oh my God, I’ve got to have the emeralds!”

Heirloom Jewelry is Making a Comeback for the Modern Bride

April 29th, 2013 Emma Duch No comments

For a long time new diamonds have been the center piece of every girls engagement ring.  However, we are now seeing a new trend picking up speed – creating a ring out of a family heirloom to keep the family history alive.

Diamond Estate Seven Stone RingI can speak of this from experience, after choosing to have my great grandmothers diamonds reset into what is now my engagement ring.  It was a treasured moment when I could marry together my new life with my husband, with my history and the diamonds that have been passed down through four generations.

It’s never an easy decision to dismantle a family ring, or piece of jewelry, but to think that you are turning it into a new ring that will hopefully be passed down again through more generations, makes it all worthwhile. The great thing is that you already have your diamonds or gemstones which will never change and then it is just a matter of choosing a setting that works for you or designing one for the jeweler you are working with to custom make.

This is the fun part because you can choose a setting you love, the metal you want and possibly other gemstones to complement the antique gems. This will give you a sense of excitement because you are breathing new life back into gems from the past.

DeNatale Jewelers are experts in redesigning jewelry.  We regularly work with estate items and custom engagement rings to give you peace of mind.  We will make your lineage proud and give you a reminder everyday of your past and future coming together.

This is the time to come in to our Lower Manhattan showroom and discuss how we can make this a reality. Feel free to contact us with your questions. We look forward to custom designing your heirloom piece into a setting you will love!

A Wide Diamond Wedding Band – Is It Right for You?

April 4th, 2013 joannep No comments

There are some amazing diamond wedding band designs to choose from today!  A diamond eternity band is still the most popular, but following the trend of  vintage jewelry designs, wider diamond wedding bands are back again.   DeNatale Jewelers has some new and exciting styles, we think you will love to wear on your wedding day and  treasure for a lifetime.

PeJay 18kt and Diamond Wedding BandThis beautiful PeJay 18 kt Diamond Wedding Band features three rows of diamonds for a total count of 21 diamonds. The diamonds themselves can be made in various sizes for any total weight count. This ring is a beautiful expression of commitment and definitely has a vintage look. It is a perfect choice for women who have larger hands that want their bridal jewelry to make a statement.
Another great choice is the PeJay Diamond 18kt  Ring that features 30 diamonds in a white gold. The open link classic design PeJay Diamond 18kt Wedding Bandhas been a favorite throughout the years. It’s a design that assures confidence as life evolves.  The ring is an outstanding option for those wanting matching unisex bridal jewelry.
Here is another alternative three row design that will highlight any diamond engagement ring or stands alone beautifully. This elegant PeJay 18 kt Diamond Wedding Band  has 40 full cut diamonds  for a total carat weight of 1.71 set in white gold. The gorgeous diamonds, chic design and excellent craftsmanship makes it a best seller in our bridal jewelry collection.

For a contemporary look, we recommend the  PeJay Floating Diamond Ring. It  has eleven round brilliant diamonds weighing 0.52 ct tw. The precious gemstones are G-H color, VS clarity  and  look like they are floating in a bezel  set 18 kt. white gold mounting. It is a great way to express your originality!  This ring  accentuates woman with elongated fingers. The interesting design is a fabulous choice for brides to wear solo or as a piece of  fashion jewelry.

April 1st, 2013 Emma Duch No comments

As the old adage goes, ‘Diamonds are a girl’s best friend’ and I am sure there are very few of us who would deny being enchanted by diamonds as we walk past a luxury jewelers. They are the epitome of class and elegance and have become the most treasured gem around the world with songs and movies written about them as well as being synonymous with love.  Part of the fascination maybe the simplicity a white diamond brings to an outfit or it may be the talking point a colored diamond creates when you wear it out for the first time.

What ever the reason you wear a diamond, for those born in April, it is even more significant.   It is your birthstone and therefore hopefully you will have a diamond tucked away somewhere, or at least have your sights set on one to celebrate an occasion later in life.

Classic Diamond Studs complete any outfit.

For April babies, or for that matter anyone who just loves diamonds, the wonderful thing is the variety of colors they come in.  They are commonly found in a range from yellow to brown or gray to colorless but did you know in rare circumstances they can be discovered in blue, green, black, translucent white, pink, violet, orange, purple and red – what a treat!  You can find out more information from our Diamond Learning Center on our website so that you are up to speed with what you should be looking for when selecting the perfect personal treat or gift and how color plays a part in this.

We can also give you a few ideas as food for thought:  Diamond studs are a simple addition to any outfit, perfect for every day wear and a great gift when wrapped up in a little box, tied up with ribbon.  They can be made to fit most budgets ranging from $415 to nearly $14,000 and beyond if you want to wear more than 2ct!

Beautiful Bridal Gifts to Bedazzle Your Wedding Party

March 6th, 2013 joannep No comments

Your wedding day will be one that you will remember for the rest of your life and probably one that your wedding party will too.  It is a special honor to stand by your side when you say ‘I do’ as well as planning your Bachelor and Bachelorette parties and this will really unify all of you as you work on the events together.

But after all is in place and the big day arrives, you will hopefully be sipping champagne with all your wedding party roles allocated and feeling like everything is under control.  Bridesmaids will be getting you into your dress and groomsmen will be ensuring the tie is neatly tied.  Whilst in the final hours of preparation however, make sure to take the time to stop, just for a few moments, to share a special couple of minutes with those that have got you to where you are now.  Believe us, it will be cherished – and there may be tears!

This is the ideal time to tell them what it has meant to you to have them by your side and to also consider presenting them with a little gift.  The idea is to thank them for their time and for supporting you through the roller coaster of preparing for a your wedding.  The gift doesn’t need to be a grand gesture but a token that you may want them to wear on the day from earrings to match the dresses like Honora pearl studs which come in an array of colors, or cufflinks to make the groomsmen smile.  There are so many cufflinks out there to tell a story, especially ones from Deakin and Francis.  If you don’t see the ‘right ones’ on our website, then let us know and DeNatale Jewelers NYC will look into finding cufflinks to tell your story and mean something to your groomsmen.

Photo frames are also popular as gifts.  Reed and Barton offer a nice simple selection of frames which can be filled with a photo of you and your bridal party growing up or used later for their favorite photo from the wedding. A really special thought is to tuck a little note in behind the photo with a few words for them to look back on with fond memories over the years.

Whatever you choose or are looking for, everyone at DeNatale Jewelers NYC in Downtown Manhattan will do their best to find it for you.

“All dressed up in finery and pearls, We remember the time as little girls.
We giggled and curtsied and longed for the day, when our parties would be real and not just play.” Anon

Why you should not buy a loose diamond online?

February 15th, 2013 joannep No comments
Demarco Halo Diamond Engagement Ring

Demarco Halo Diamond Engagement Ring

A diamond is like a piece of fine art. It has amazing visual characteristics! It has to be personally viewed to see its beauty and the feeling it elicits. You can read about the symmetry and technicalities of a diamond’s cut, but to experience the sparkle, shine and depth of the stone in person will help make your decision easier and more meaningful. You can then feel confident that you made the right choice to purchase your ideal diamond.

The purchase of a house, car or diamond engagement ring is the most important acquisitions you will make in your lifetime. The majority of people take the time and effort to familiarize themselves with the physical properties of a car or house before buying. The emotions experienced during this process play a huge part in making that decision. This should be true for your diamond as well.

Sitting in front of a selection of loose diamonds chosen especially for you by one of the  DeNatale brothers will give you the opportunity to see the brightness and scintillation of each stone, view any inclusions through a jeweler’s loupe and visually compare its natural beauty. We believe that the right diamond will speak to you when viewed this way.

Being located in New York City, with full access to a vast amount of diamonds, we are able to find the best quality diamond to meet your individual criteria that includes shape, carat size and fits your budget. You will be able to compare several different stones in our comfortable showroom with a trained professional to help guide you.

We all know that internet sites come and go, while we have been in business for 105 years. Included with your purchase, we provide service for sizing, maintenance and care through skilled craftsman that have worked with us for generations. An appraisal, diamond certification and our guarantee are all part of our customer experience.

Now, do you really want to buy a loose diamond online?

My Daughter received a DeNatale Diamond Engagement Ring!

February 14th, 2013 joannep No comments

DeNatale Diamond Engagement RingOne of  our newest brides-to-be to receive an engagement ring created by DeNatale Jewelers is my daughter! She was recently surprised with the gorgeous ring on a cruise! It took place while viewing the Atlantic Ocean from a stateroom balcony, which her boyfriend felt was the “perfect place to propose”.

Several months ago my husband and I were happily advised of these intentions. I was handed a family heirloom mounting that needed transformation to become the symbol of the love and commitment he wanted to express. He has been blessed to have “strong women to influence him during his life” and wanted my daughter to wear the ring belonging to his grandmother.

The yellow gold bridal set was missing the center diamond from the engagement ring.  Two round side stones that flanked this ring complements a matching diamond wedding band (that she has yet to see).

John DeNatale took special care to find the best diamond of value and quality to enhance this vintage setting. Since the stone selection process was done across two states, I was asked to choose a loose diamond I liked the most! It is true that you actually need to see diamonds in person to make a final decision. The narrowed selections of  diamonds were very close in all aspects of a diamond‘s 4 C’s, but there was one stone that just popped out at me when I saw it!

The mounting was then rhodium plated to the metal choice my daughter preferred. As the cruise quickly approached, I was anxious for the completion of the ring. John advised me that it was out of his hands now. I soon learned that John respected the wishes for my daughter to be the first to see the completed ring and shipped it directly to Pennsylvania!

On the formal dress night of the cruise, nearing sunset, my beautiful daughter said yes to marry the love of her life and her best friend! My husband and I were privileged to be on the cruise to share this special occasion.

Years go by quickly and my cute and spirited little girl has matured into an amazing, sensitive and caring woman.  I remember her visiting DeNatale Jewelers and having fun trying on jewelry. It seemed she always favored a three stone ring. Now she has one! It is beautiful, full of sentiment and given to her with eternal love!
